The Harman Connected PA ecosystem is a rethinking of the traditional engineering-centric sound system. We designed Connected PA for the musician. Musicians rely on sound systems, but they shouldn't have to be audio engineers to make music. The Connected PA design team - which I led - looked at the entire system and made fundamental changes to each element to enable better system awareness and to automate basic functions. Now musicians can begin setting up their mixer from a musical instrument point-of-view. They can test their system and the system automatically maps and adjust the interaction between microphones, mixers and speakers. Microphones have the ability to communicate to the mixer - so once they are setup - the system remembers how they were used and will automatically set up the mixer no matter where the microphone is plugged in. I share patent authorship for this technology.
